Ashgabat, October 11 (APP): President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari met with the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Numan Kurtulmuş, during his visit to Turkmenistan at the international forum titled “Time and Intercivilizational Relations: The Foundation of Peace and Development.” According to a statement issued by the President’s office, Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, and Chief Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti were also present during the meeting.

President Zardari emphasized the need to improve rail links between Pakistan and Türkiye and underscored the importance of boosting trade, economic cooperation, and people-to-people contacts between the two brotherly nations. He called for strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing exchanges of delegations to bring the two countries closer. He also hailed Türkiye as a great and sincere friend of Pakistan and the Muslim world.

President Zardari highlighted Türkiye’s principled stance on issues facing the Muslim Ummah, noting that it has always raised its voice against injustice. The meeting also expressed concern over the severe humanitarian situation in Palestine and Lebanon. The President stressed the need for sincere and serious efforts by the Muslim world to tackle the challenges facing the Ummah. He further praised Türkiye’s journey toward becoming an economic powerhouse and extended his best wishes for its continued success and prosperity.
