Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Celebrates Traditional Archery with “Karkay” Tournament

The Provincial Department of Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa organized a traditional sports event in Lucky Marwat, featuring the famous cultural sport of archery, known locally as “Karkay.” A large number of players participated in the event. Commentary:
Karkay is considered a popular and traditional game in Lucky Marwat, mostly enjoyed by the elderly. The final match of this tournament, organized by the Provincial Sports Department, was played between Bachkan Ahmadzai and Tajahzai, with Tajahzai winning the match by a narrow margin of one point after a tough contest. Local unit commander of the Pakistan Army, along with officials from the sports department and district administration, as well as a large audience, were present at the event.

The players expressed great joy at the organization of this well-known cultural game of the Marwat region, stating that further efforts are needed to promote regional and traditional sports. This will allow youth to connect with their culture and traditional games. On this occasion, officials from the Pakistan Army and the sports department distributed cash prizes and trophies among the runner-up and winning teams and players.
