PM Shehbaz Sharif Reaffirms Pakistan’s Support for Palestinian Rights and Calls for End to Israeli Oppression
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Message on Palestine Solidarity Day
“Today, like the entire nation, I stand in solidarity with our Palestinian brothers and sisters. A full year has passed since October 7, marking a new wave of Israeli oppression and brutality against the Palestinians. Defying global powers, international institutions, UN Security Council resolutions, and the International Court of Justice, Israel has so far killed 41,000 unarmed Palestinians, including children, the elderly, and women, leaving millions wounded and displaced. The remaining Palestinians, weary and hungry, continue to face relentless, unprovoked bombings from the skies. Gaza has been reduced to ruins, and the global silence on this catastrophe is as condemnable and alarming as Israel’s atrocities.
Israeli terrorism didn’t start on October 7, 2023; it has been ongoing for the last seven decades. Israel’s state terrorism is now engulfing not only Gaza and Palestine but also other countries in the region. History is a witness that when state terrorism like this is supported instead of being halted by global powers, the entire world pays an irreparable price. On this day, my message to the international community is that if Israeli oppression and genocide are not stopped, it will destroy regional peace and create tensions that will affect every country.
Following the vision of our founding father, Quaid-e-Azam, Pakistan not only refuses to recognize Israel, a state built on oppression and illegal occupation, but also condemns its cruelty. Pakistan reaffirms its commitment to raising its voice against Israeli atrocities at every international forum. The hearts of the people of Pakistan beat with their oppressed Palestinian brothers and sisters. Pakistan will continue to provide moral, diplomatic, and political support to the Palestinians suffering under Israeli tyranny.
Recently, at every global forum, I strongly voiced against the ongoing genocide in Gaza and Palestine. The Pakistani government will continue its support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Pakistan has not only sent aid to our Palestinian brothers and sisters but also ensured that Palestinian students, whose education was halted due to the conflict, can continue their studies in Pakistani institutions. Pakistan will not abandon its Palestinian brothers and sisters in this difficult time. As we observe Palestine Solidarity Day on a national level today, my message to the world is to take concrete steps to stop the massacre of Palestinians.”
