Pakistan Loses 5-2 to India in SAFF Women’s Championship Opener

Pakistan’s women’s football team lost to arch-rivals India 5-2 in an electrifying opening match of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024 at the Dasharath Stadium.
India’s Grace Dangmei was the star of the match, scoring two goals and setting the tone for her team’s victory. Manisha, Bala Devi, and Jyoti Chauhan each added one goal, rounding off a dominant performance by the Indian side.
Despite the tough competition, Pakistan fought back valiantly. Suha Hirani netted Pakistan’s first goal in the extra time of the first half, offering a glimmer of hope. Early in the second half, Kayla Siddiqui added another goal in the 47th minute, narrowing the margin to 5-2. However, the team was unable to score further and had to settle for a defeat in their opening game.
Pakistan will now face Bangladesh on October 20 in their second group-stage match, hoping to bounce back from this loss.
