Former House of Lords Member Calls for Kashmiris’ Involvement in Resolving the Conflict
O.C.V.
Former member of the British House of Lords, Lord Nazir Ahmed, has stated that the Government of Pakistan needs to formulate a robust policy on the Kashmir issue, placing Kashmiris at the forefront since they are the primary stakeholders in this matter. Their involvement is essential due to their status as the fundamental party.
VO
Lord Nazir Ahmed made these remarks while speaking to journalists at the Kashmir Press Club in Mirpur. Former President of the Chamber of Commerce, Syed Sabir Hussain Shah, and prominent businessman Mumtaz Rasool Mir were also present. Lord Nazir Ahmed asserted that the Kashmir issue can never be put on the back burner. The elections taking place in occupied Kashmir provide no benefit to the Kashmiris. It is confirmed that the BJP will lose in the upcoming elections in India as well. Any government formed in occupied Kashmir tends to be pro-India and cannot represent the voice of the Kashmiris. If they attempt to do so, the option of governor’s rule remains. He stated that the Pakistan Armed Forces are not only a source of hope for our homeland but also for Islamic countries. Those propagating against the Pakistan Armed Forces should visit Chiri Kot and other areas along the Line of Control to understand the sacrifices of our military. He suggested that all politicians, including himself, should be stationed at the Line of Control for two days, where our soldiers are on duty. He remarked that those who spread chaos in the country can never be well-wishers of the nation. The elements involved in terrorism have no religion; they hollow out the foundations of the country and become tools for the enemies. We, as Overseas Kashmiris, stand shoulder to shoulder with the military against such individuals and will continue to do so in the future.
