Have you ever seen a bottle of glue? Glue is often used in our homes for joining various things together. It’s almost always present in every household, and even if it’s not, it has certainly been used at some point.
You must have noticed that the glue doesn’t stick inside the bottle, but as soon as it comes out, it starts bonding things together.
Glue doesn’t stick inside the bottle because it is made of a chemical that contains water, allowing it to remain in a liquid state. In a sealed bottle, there isn’t enough air for the water to evaporate and the glue to dry out. That’s why the glue doesn’t dry up inside the bottle.
For glue to be used effectively, or to make itself useful, it needs to come out of the bottle, and with the help of air, it becomes capable of performing its job. The properties of the glue only come into play when it leaves the bottle, and the outside air turns the water within it into vapor, making the glue capable of bonding things together.
Something similar exists within us. We, too, are capable of doing a lot, but we don’t allow our talents to come out of the bottle. Our inner self is like the bottle, and our talent is like the glue.
When talent emerges, the air of practice and persistence can make it useful and refine it. Our talent can only work when it comes out from within and is polished through practice. When practice acts like air and evaporates the water of laziness and the comfort zone from within us, that’s when the magic happens.
Remember that the comfort zone is akin to death. Just like the glue is happy and safe in the presence of water inside the bottle, but dries up when exposed to air, the glue’s purpose is not to stay inside the bottle but to come out, dry up, and be useful to others. We, too, must bring our inner talent out because if it doesn’t come out, it will remain useless.
So, step out of the bottle and get to work.
