October Brings Rain and Cooler Days to Balochistan
As October arrives, Balochistan is witnessing a noticeable change in weather patterns. Cooler regions are experiencing a sharp drop in temperatures, while even the typically warmer areas are seeing a marked reduction in heat levels. This shift comes as dusty winds and rainfall make their way across the province, bringing a refreshing change.
According to the Meteorological Department, the next 24 hours could bring thunderstorms and rain to several districts, including Barkhan, Musa Khel, Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Sibi, Ziarat, Khuzdar, Panjgur, Awaran, Kech, and Turbat. Areas like Chaman, Pishin, Qila Saifullah, and Loralai are expected to see partly cloudy skies with a chance of light rain.
The coastal regions of Makran, including Gwadar, Pasni, and Ormara, along with cities such as Washuk, Surab, Khuzdar, Panjgur, and Turbat, are bracing for dusty winds.
In the past 24 hours, Quetta recorded the highest rainfall at 8 mm, followed by Zhob and Muslim Bagh with 4 mm each, Sibi at 2 mm, and Khuzdar with 1 mm.
As for temperatures, the colder areas are experiencing a significant dip:
- Kalat recorded a minimum of 9°C
- Ziarat and Quetta recorded 11°C
- Muslim Bagh at 14°C
- Zhob at 16°C
- Khuzdar remained at 18°C
In contrast, among the warmer regions, Turbat continues to be the hottest, recording 39°C. However, even in the Rakhshan Belt’s desert areas, such as Dalbandin and Nokkundi, the maximum temperature has decreased to 32°C.
This significant shift in weather offers relief for residents as they prepare for the approaching winter. With a mix of rain, dusty winds, and cooler temperatures, the province’s diverse climate is in full transition.
