Awami Action Committee Pays Tribute to Shaheed-e-Millat on 1965 Arrest Anniversary, Reaffirms Peaceful Struggle

Srinagar, Oct 10: The Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) commemorated the arrest anniversary of its founding leader, Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq (RA), who was detained on October 10, 1965, enduring nearly three years of imprisonment and hardships.

The AAC highlighted that Shaheed-e-Millat, alongside numerous leaders and activists, was arrested for voicing the aspirations of the people and advocating for truth and justice. He was held without trial for almost three years at Jammu’s Satwari Jail, where he faced solitary confinement and severe torture for his political stance.

The AAC expressed gratitude for Shaheed-e-Millat’s sacrifices, acknowledging his selfless contributions and unwavering leadership. The organization reiterated its commitment to continuing the peaceful struggle he initiated, striving for justice and dignity for the Kashmiri people.

The AAC also renewed its call for the release of political prisoners detained in jails within and outside Kashmir, emphasizing the humanitarian need to reunite them with their families and address their health concerns, which could contribute to improving the overall situation.
