House Adopts Resolution on Successful Conduct of SCO Council of Heads of States Meeting in Islamabad
The House has adopted a resolution recognizing the successful conduct of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Heads of States meeting held in Islamabad. During the discussions, Information Minister highlighted several points regarding the opposition’s stance and government initiatives:
Opposition’s Silence on Palestine: The opposition did not mention the Palestine issue in their speeches, raising questions about their commitment to the cause.
Government Relief Efforts: The government has sent relief goods to Lebanon and Palestine, emphasizing its support for affected regions.
SIC Members’ Absence: Members of the Special Inter-Party Conference (SIC) did not participate in the all-parties conference addressing the Palestine issue.
Challenges in Organizing SCO Meeting: Despite various obstacles placed by a political party, the government successfully held the SCO meeting in Islamabad.
Intolerance in Politics: The Information Minister criticized the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for introducing intolerance in politics, noting that assemblies were dissolved, and the constitution was abrogated during the PTI government.
Establishing State Writ: The minister stated that the time is ripe to establish the state’s authority.
Darkest Period: The period from 2018 to 2022 was described as the darkest for Pakistan.
Recognition of Pakistan’s Role: Pakistan’s role has been recognized regionally through the participation of leaders at the SCO meeting.
Positive Economic Indicators: Remittances have recorded Rs 8.8 billion, inflation has dropped to a single digit, and all other economic indicators are showing an upward trajectory.
Ending Diplomatic Isolation: The SCO meeting marked the end of Pakistan’s diplomatic isolation.

Baseless Accusations: Opposition leader PPP Agha Rafiullah urged the opposition leader not to level baseless accusations.
Need for Constitutional Amendments: He emphasized the need for a constitutional amendment to prevent the dissolution of assemblies without substantial reasons, reflecting on past practices.
Issues with Previous Government: He noted that the previous PTI government bulldozed rules during its tenure and called for the establishment of a constitutional court to address various issues related to the judiciary.
