“District Sports Committee and Education Authority Launch Annual Sports Gala 2024”

The inaugural ceremony of the Annual Sports Gala 2024, organized by the District Sports Committee and the District Education Authority of Bahawalpur, was held recently. Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channr, officially opened the event and took an oath from the participating students.

The opening ceremony featured a march past by the Girls’ Guides, Boys’ Scouts, and students. A total of 2,200 students from all tehsils of Bahawalpur district are participating in the sports event, which will continue until October 9 at the Dring Stadium in Bahawalpur. Various competitions, including hockey, cricket, football, badminton, tug-of-war, and races, will be held during this time.

In their speeches at the inaugural ceremony, speakers emphasized that sports play a vital role in enhancing mental and physical abilities. They stressed the importance of youth not only pursuing education but also actively participating in sports activities to bring honor to the nation at both national and international levels.

The ceremony was attended by sports officials, officers from the School Education Department, teachers, students, representatives of civil society, and a large number of sports enthusiasts.
