Extension Likely for Income Tax Return Submission Deadline
An extension for the submission of income tax returns is being considered.
According to sources, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is contemplating extending the deadline for submitting income tax returns, which could be discussed upon Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s return to the country.
The deadline set by the FBR for submitting returns is September 30.
Sources indicate that the system is heavily burdened with submissions, and the Prime Minister will be advised to approve the extension of the deadline. As of September 28, approximately 2.9 million returns have been submitted.
It is noteworthy that last year, only 1.4 million returns were submitted by September 28.
